Phi Bui (b. 1992) is a composer and producer residing in London. Born and raised in the Bay Area of California, he began piano and percussion studies at a young age, receiving scholarship and awards from the Percussive Arts Society International Convention and Avedis Zildjian. Phi has attended the Nancy Zeltsman Marimba Festival where he studied and participated in masterclasses with Fumito Nunoya and Nancy Zeltsman. Compositions include works written for full orchestra, electro-acoustic pieces for monochord with sampler, and music for film. His natural influences stem from early exposure to noise rock, lo-fi, jazz, and his father’s classical guitar.

Phi has been mentored by James DeMars, Elinor Armer, and Luciano Chessa. He received his Masters in composition from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and is currently working towards a PhD at the Royal Academy of Music with guidance from Philip Cashian.

He recently released his album unnoticed moments on Eilean Records (France).
